The Seamstress


is a hardy old woman
with pins
sticking
out of her mouth.


Thread in hand
with a needle
She
bastes
hems
appliques
a Raggedy Ann.


Her face-
an old wrinkled pincushion
pins stuck in her painted mouth
two black buttons for eyes
hair of fine vermillion thread.

little squarish man

probing for assets

carefully collecting money

rarely lending it,


locking all his secrets

within the confines of his soul

currency forever secured inside


with only himself to view it,
