Sample Memory Poem

My Mid-Day Book by Chris Nespeca1
Lying on my bed
Kicking my legs to the rhythm of the story
I must have heard it countless times
I memorized every picture.
I could recite the words forward and backward
But still after having tomato soup with
a toasted cheese sandwich for lunch
I could be found, before my nap, on my
parents' bed.
Waiting ...
To hear those tricky lines of
Hop on Pop
The words,
Music to my ears.
The pictures,
always entertaining
Time after time after time.
