Siamese Fighting Fish by Jason Benn¹

The fish glides gracefully across the tank

His unblinking eyes stare bold and blank

His fantail flaps like a flag

Proud in his rainbow-plated armor

he hovers majestically over a sea of gem-like gravel

Then, instinctively, it arches into a warrior's stance

With one swift movement it lunges at its prey

After viciously tearing it apart

it feasts on its remains like a barbarian
