Celebrate Black History Month
Black History Month was first organized by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in 1926 to focus national attention on the contributions, the struggles and the history of African-Americans. "Negro History Week," as it was originally called, was scheduled to occur during the second week of February in order to coincide with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. The event has since evolved into a month-long commemoration. Take some time to explore our African-American history and learn more about African-American culture from these IPL resources:

What is the IPL?
The Internet Public Library is a public library for the world wide web.
Students from a consortium of colleges and universities with programs in information science develop and maintain the IPL!
